MARS BLAZES BESIDE MOON

As featured in our September magazine (order here) the Moon will rise at 10pm Saturday Sept.5th with Mars just to its left, blazing as a very bright star-like object. As the night wears on the Moon gets closer to Mars until dawn around 6am when Mars will be just off the top edge of the Moon. This is a rare sight that won't be seen again in Irish skies for 2.5 years (December 2022).

You can listen to our David Moore (Ireland's best known astronomer and editor/founder of our magazine) talk on RTE about this event at HERE
Our magazine has a full write up of this event and simple diagrams showing you what it will look like. Order below.
