Christmas Lecture

"Mars Insight "

By Kevin Nolan of the Planetary Society- Monday 17th December (Note date and speaker change).

About the Lecture

NASA's billion dollar Mars Insight mission has just landed on the red planet and we are delighted that author of the acclaimed (worldwide) book on Mars exploration, Kevin Nolan (also Irish Coordinator of the Planetary Society and Tallaght IT science lecturer) will give an in depth talk about how this mission will probe the inside of the planet for the first time.

He will show animations of the landing, talk about the cool science underpinning this mission, and talk a about planetology too. Then to round it off he will give a nice primer on the upcoming New Horizon's mission, the craft that flew past Pluto in 2015 and is now headed for the first trans-neptunian asteroid ever to be visited.

Our speaker is a gifted and highly sought after public speaker. When Mars Insight landed RTE's top news show "Morning Ireland" invited Kevin to explain it to the nation. He is a frequent broadcaster on all aspects of space exploration. This should be an incredible Christmas Lecture and we are delighted that Kevin had agreed to deliver it.
