URANUS
& MOON TELESCOPE SHOWS

Astronomy Ireland held Uranus-Moon Watches in Locations all
around the country on November 28. The evening turned out to
be be dry and cold for the most part after a very showery day.
It was a clear night in many parts. The Phoenix Park held the
largest watch where several hundred people showed up and were
treated to superb views of the Moon and Uranus.
Listed below the local co-ordinators who ran similar
events countrywide:

Just for a change, and despite the 9mm rain recorded throughout the
day, we had few clouds in Clare last night (Tuesday 28 November),
and although haze was a bit of a problem, Uranus proved easy to
locate thanks to the Moon and Lambda-Aquarii and showed up as a
clear, distinctly blue disk in my 8.75" DTG reflector using a
12mm eyepiece. There were not many people at this quite isolated
location, but I did have a couple of visitors who had never looked
through a telescope
before. They were astounded by the view of the lunar surface, and
look forward to coming back to view Saturn.
Co. Cork, Ballyphehane Community Centre - Martin Lynch (087)

Martin ran his watch in Ballyphehane Community Centre. It was
a cold night but the skies were clear and everyone got a view of the
moon and Uranus.
