A very rare lunar eclipse is taking place this evening to coincide with New Year's Eve.
The eclipse will be visible to everyone in Ireland between 7 and 8 pm this evening.
"For the first time in 353 years we're going to have an eclipse of the moon on New Year's Eve," said David Moore of Astronomy Ireland.
"It's the perfect way to ring out the old year and ring in the new."
