Fireball sightings in Donegal

Witnesses in Donegal to a fireball that blazed across the country yesterday are being urged to report their sightings to Astronomy Ireland.

Thousands of people nationwide have reported seeing a ball of fire falling from the sky yesterday evening.

Reports this morning suggest the meteorite may have landed in the northern half of the country.

Callers to Ocean FM’s Drivetime Show with Francie Boylan yesterday evening spoke of a “bright light” similar to that usually seen on a welder.

He spoke of seeing a bright light heading towards Donegal Town which he claimed looked like a UFO.
