Report on Nationwide Moon Watches March 12  2008

Images of the Moon in Phoenix Park                                     Credit: John Hackett

On March 12 Astronomy Ireland held Moon Watches all over Ireland in the locations below .

LOCATIONS AND ASTRONOMY IRELAND CO-ORDINATORS

Carlow: CIT Carlow.
Gerry Moloney held a watch in Carlow IT.  He informed us that about 20 people showed up on the night some coming from quite a distance.  They got excellent views of the moon and Pliades before the dreaded clouds rolled in for the night.  Nevertheless it was a very sucessful night.

Clare:  Kilmihil

Dublin:  Phoenix Park - Papal Cross Carpark

Louth: Dundalk, Seabank carpark

Tipperary: Clonmel, Poppyfields Shopping Centre carpark

On what was a very cold evening a small group of people turned up and were treated to some great views of the moon and the Pliades.  Ray Parle reported that their usual viewing spot wasn't available which might account for the smaller numbers on the night.
