Monthly Lecture
Date/Time: Monday December 12 at 8:00pm
Title: "Cosmology - From beginning to end"
Speaker: By Chris Lintott star of BBC's "Sky at Night" program.
Description:

Cosmology is in a unique state; over the last decade, measurements have
converged on a new standard model of the Universe, one born 13.7 billion
years ago in the heat of the Big Bang. However, the Universe appears to be
dominated not by familiar atoms, but by mysterious dark matter and energy.
The talk will review how we ended up in this state and look forward to
possible solutions. I promise there will be no mathematics involved!

Chris Lintott studies star formation and cosmology at University College
London, and is also one of the team responsible for the BBC's long-running
'Sky at Night' programme. In two years of research at UCL he has
discovered beyond all reasonable doubt that central London is no place for
an observer.
