Title: “Astronomy in Ancient Sligo and Meath”
Speaker: By Martin Byrne
Description:

Martin Byrne is an expert researcher currently living in Castlebaldwin in Co. Sligo where he is working as a Tour Guide. For the last ten years he has been investigating Chambered Cairns - a type of ancient monument with internal chambers found on mountain tops and hills all across Ireland.

He originally became interested in these monuments for their wonderful megalithic engraved symbols, which are the oldest written 'documents' in Ireland. He has since been working on the solar and lunar alignments which illuminate interiors of monuments.  Martin will shed some light on our early ancestors and their knowledge of Astronomy.
