Nationwide Jupiter Watch Report
30 September 2010

The next telescope nights will take place during Science Week, November 7-14, as this year's theme is Our Place In Space
On 30 September 2010, Astronomy Ireland set up telescopes in venues all over
Ireland to look at Jupiter, which is dominating our night skies at the moment.
Hundreds of people from all over the country attended their own local Watches.
Here are the reports from around the country - more reports and images to
follow.
Cork
All who showed up got a disappointing splash of rain. The brave
souls didn't stay long, but were happy to get a magazine and a few
flyers. I hope they checked later, as a break appeared at 10pm,
revealing Jupiter at it's brightest in decades, before high cloud
filtered it away again.

Carlow
It was a very cloudy night but 15 people did show at the new location which was
great.

Dublin
Almost 200 people came to Phoenix Park in Dublin
for our Jupiter Watch. While only a few breaks in the clouds
appeared, David Moore gave a talk on various aspects of
astronomy and upcoming events in the organisation. Jupiter
didn't make an appearance on the night, but that did not stop
people from having an interesting evening out!
