Irish skies, May 31st, 10:21pm:
Kieran Rogers (Nass, Co. Kildare) sent this photo to Astronomy Ireland showing the Space Shuttle Discovery (top) and its huge external fuel tank (bottom) which had been jettisoned only a few minutes earlier as the pair blazed across Irish skies. Discovery was 11 minutes behind the I.S.S. tonight but this distance will shrink as the "space chase" continues on Sunday night and possibly Monday night. Thereafter the pair (docked) make the biggest man made object in space until June 5th. Predictions and details on our Newsline and our Text service see www.astronomy.ie/iss
Every time you see the spacecraft please email a brief report to observe@astronomy.ie for our magazine report
