Galileo Drawing Competition
Billion euro satellite named after Adam Vaughn from Co Dublin

Adam Vaughn with his trophy
Adam Vaughn from Swords was the lucky winner in the Irish section of the Galileo Project Drawing Competition. At a special presentation at Astronomy Ireland's headquarters, the well-known artist and environmentalist Don Conroy presented Adam with his prize, a trophy representing the Galileo-IOV "Adam", the satellite named after the winner.
On the day, Adam was supported by his family, teacher, and schoolfriends who all enjoyed a fantastic afternoon presented by the European Commission Head of Representation in Ireland, Barbara Nolan. Adam's piece - The Solar System was chosen to be the winner out of approximately 200 entries.
The Galileo Project is Europe's new satellite navigation system that will provide important - and often life-saving - services to the public. Listen to Astronomy Ireland's Conor Farrell speak on Scibernia about the Galileo Project HERE.
