Science and technology make up around 60% of Irish GDP, yet the Irish government has drastically cut funding for science promotion initiatives. Astronomy Ireland recognises that a knowledge-based economy will help lift Ireland from the depths of recession and back to the forefront of the global market.
Astronomy can be considered a "gateway" science: it captivates the minds of children all over the world, and with appropriate nurturing, these children will become the world leaders of science and technology.

With your help Astronomy Ireland can help build this science culture for Ireland. Even a donation as small as €10 can go a long way in helping us achieve our goals.
