Astronomy Ireland is holding Nationwide Comet and Moon Watches (venues around Ireland are listed below) on Wednesday November 1 at 8pm. Comet SWAN is the latest comet to become visible in the night skies.  In the past few days it has had an outburst and brightened by a factor of 5 to magnitude 4!  It could brighten further, who knows.  Use the star map on page 28 of the November issue of Astronomy & Space magazine to locate the comet. For the next few days you'll see it's just below M13 the Hercules Globular cluster - in the same 10x50 binocular field of view - what a sight! .

The Moon of course is our nearest neighbour and is an amazing sight in a telescope or a pair of binoculars.
