ASTRO-EXPO 2007

The event this year, which is in association with the Discover Science and Engineering Programme will be on Sunday 25 November in the Artane Beaumont Recreation Centre, Kilmore Road, Artane, Dublin 5. Map to venue

You can also park in the Car Park outside our Shop and walk around to the Astro-Expo venue - Shop map here.

Entry to the exhibition is FREE to all.

Dr. Miruna Popescu of Armagh Observatory

Sun Exhibition

Dr. Popescu in addition to giving a lecture will also present a unique Sun Exhibition.  She is a Post-Doctorate fellow at Armagh Observatory and is heavily involved in outreach at the Observatory.  Born in Romania she was educated in Bucharest before moving to Armagh to complete a PhD in Solar Physics.  This promises to be one of the highlights of the exhibition

Individual lecture tickets can be purchased for €5 on the day

Doors open at 12pm and event ends at 6pm

Exhibitors will include a Sun Exhibition by Dr. Miruna Popescu of Armagh Observatory, Armagh Planetarium, DCU Astrophysics, UCD Physics with Astronomy and Space Science, NUI Galway Astrophysics Dept., NUI Maynooth Physics with Astrophysics, David Grennan Astrophotography Display, Astronomy Shop, Astronomy Ireland, Brownstown Observatory, UFO Society, Irish Light Pollution Awareness Campaign, Kingsland Observatory, Eamonn O'Fearchain and Nature's Treasures.

      Listen to Dave Fanning's Drivetime on RTE Radio 1 on Thursday 22nd of November, when Dave will be doing a Space themed show and talking to members of Astronomy Ireland about Astro-Expo as well as bringing you classic music.

The exhibition will feature an inflatable Planetarium and a show presented by Bart Connolly.

Astro-Expo 2007 will be run in association with the Discover Science and Engineering project.  
      

12:00pm Doors open to the public.

1:00pm Lecture - "The Sun" by Dr Miruna Popescu (Armagh Observatory)

3:00pm Lecture - "Imaging the Solar System" by Carl O'Beirnes (Astronomy Ireland Shop)

4:30pm Lecture - "Light Pollution" by Albert White (ILPAC)

6:00pm Exhibition finishes
