ASTRO-EXPO 2006
The event this year will be formally opened by the Lord Mayor of
Dublin, Councillor Vincent Jackson.
Astro-Expo 2006 which is being
run in association with DCU Astrosoc and the Discover Science and Engineering project
and is guaranteed to be one of the highlights of the Astronomy calendar
for this year. Many exhibitors have already booked space for Astronomy Ireland's flagship event.
The key exhibitor this year is the European Southern Observatory
based in Germany. ESO provide access to Telescopes in the
Southern Hemisphere for researchers here in Europe - an invaluable
resource. Entry to the exhibition is totally free with a
small charge for admission to lectures which are are being run
alongside the exhibition.
The British
Council Ireland will be providing a Solar System
Exhibition as they did last year. Another new exhibitor this
year is the Model Aeronautics Council of Ireland.

12:00 pm Official Opening of Astro-Expo by the Lord Mayor of Dublin,
Councillor Vincent Jackson.
1:00 pm "Island of the Setting Sun - In Search of Ireland's
Ancient Astronomers" by Anthony Murphy, Mythical Ireland.
2:30 pm "European Southern Observatory" by Claus Madsen of ESO (Germany).
4 pm "Reaching out to ET" by Dr Martin Griffiths of the
NASA Astrobiology Institute, Glamorgan University.
